Lolita Confessions Milky Planet
“Lolita has skewed my idea of clothing prices. I have no problem plunking down $150 for a coveted brand dress, but when I go to buy a new pair of jeans or a sweater if it’s over $40 I feel like the price is highway robbery.”

I feel the same way. I would of freaked out if I saw Milky Planet for $150 online.
But If I saw Milky planet for that much before I got into lolita I would of thought that was insane.-Nia

“I sadden that lolita coords over the years are becoming less creative with stores selling & creating sets for us”-anon
If you spend that much money on an outfit, I don’t think you would just wear ONE coord. but coordinate ALL the things!

But you don’t have to go with that one bought coord yourself. Screw the rules- do whatever you want! Make your own awesome coords and feel proud!-Nia

“I thought my Lolita friends were different. I thought they were more mature. They are not. They are hateful bitches and it makes me not want to go to meet-ups in the future. Lolita was my escape. Now it’s my personal hell.”-anon
Some Lolita groups may seem that way. I hope I don’t discourage other Lolitas from going to meetups by publishing this. My closest Lolita friends are actually the ones that were my friends before but then became Lolita later, or people I have met and have asked me to teach them about the fashion-then became interested in it. A way to solve the problem of a scary local lolita community, is by starting a private Local lolita community on your own on facebook, and Invite the really nice Lolitas into this new group, and you might also find other local lolitas who were scared to join the original community because of all of the drama-invite them too! :) Since you would be a mod, you can suspend or kick anyone out of the group that turns out to be a total snob. I hope this idea helps.-Nia

“I am a plus size girl who wears Lolita. If I ever hear ANY girl call me “Fatty-Chan”, I will take my finely manicured nails and smack a $%*&@.”-Anon

I will be right there with you! I have so much respect for plus sized Lolitas.
It is SO hard finding Lolita clothing out of the standard “super small and skinny” size.
So it either takes extreme internet searching skill, the badassery to be able to make handmade clothing, the patience to wait for custom made clothes, or all of the above.
You go girl! -Nia

“I love lolita, but I’m not at all interested in Japanese culture. I don’t want to be considered some sort of ‘poser’ for wearing it. I know next to nothing about the whole loli culture, so do you think my fears are well founded or ridiculous?” -anon
I think your fears are perfectly understandable. A lot of Lolitas like to immerse themselves in Japanese culture, taking time to learn Japanese and hoping to go to Japan (I mean, think about the shopping!)
There are communities on EGL for those who are interested in learning about the fashion (Lolita Mentors, New to Lolita )  And Lolitas on Tumblr are more than happy to help you learn about Lolita if you send them something in there culture. and there is always researching it on the internet (F Yeah Lolita )I never ONCE found it necessary to know about Japanese culture in Lolita meetups- You aren’t going to get quizzed on it. But knowing more about the Lolita culture in general is a plus (trust me, people will be asking) I hope this helped! -Nia

I personally think that you wouldn’t be missing out on a really good Lolita. Sure, they might have a nice style, but if they are going to openly put people down like that, they wouldn’t make a good friend at all. -Nia

“I hate how I get dubbed a cosplay lolita because I only have one dress and that I can only wear it some times. Its not my fault that I can’t afford to buy multiple dresses while paying for college.” -anon
